So, I made my promises to you and I have full intentions of still keeping them. I am so happy to be a part of your life on a somewhat more regular basis. If once a month is considered regular, I’ll take it. I’ve had big plans for us. Now that I am back in the states and only 6 hours away, the possibilities are just so much greater.
I remember sending you videos and pictures of my snow boarding trips when I was stationed in Germany and you saying, I want to learn how to snowboard. I remember sending you pictures of all my enchanted hiking trips and you telling me, I would love to go hiking like that. I also remember you telling me, you wished you were able to see me race. I wanted you to be a part of it just as much. Why wouldn’t I? You are a major part of what drives me anyhow. Yes I enjoy what I do, but it’s still all part of me being the example you need.
I’ve gotten to know you on another level now that we have frequent visits. Feel more connected. A void is being filled. Slow down little man, you’re growing to fast. Our conversations are better and longer. Even when you’re in trouble LOL!! We share so many similarities. Especially when it comes to sports. But, I know I have an influence in a lot of what you favor. But I never had time to teach you about football. Only what team to like. THANKS MADDEN!!! HAAAAH!
You love to tell me about your success in the great sport of soccer and I love to share my racing experiences. On our road trip, we had some really good conversations. Of course while you were awake, since you slept most of the road trip HAAAAH! Boy you can sleep!!!! Anyhow, in one conversation we spoke of giving gifts. I told you I didn’t want to buy you anything anymore. That if, I buy you anything, I wanted it to last you a lifetime. You looked at me like I was crazy and had no idea what I was talking about. I told you, I wanted to show you what’s out there other than Xboxes and Ipads. There are lots of other fun to be had other than soccer and video games. The curious eyes on your face, priceless. So I asked you. Let me show you, let me buy you memories and not things? With a big smile on your face you said, YES!!!!
