Corvara, Italy!! You left no room for another Ski Resort to top. Dolomiti SuperSki ….. Not that I have ever been to one. But, the standards are high. Famous for your clockwise and counterclockwise round robin lifts and slopes, also known as the SELLARONDA, the weekend is going to be memorable. It’s an Army Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) planned trip, so going alone and making new friends IS going to be easy. WE HAVE ARRIVED!!! Italy you just never disappoint me. A day and night of heavy snow, it is going to be a weekend of soft fresh powder. Perfect for snowboarding!
Day 1 and some of us decide to try out some of your random slopes. Get it in, knock off some of the dust, and maybe even practice some of the tricks I learned on YouTube LOL!! SellaRonda! You taught me quickly that blue, red, and black slopes were more like the red, black, and dotted black slopes in the U.S. I also learned to appreciate the fresh powder, colliding against the earth at uncontrollable speeds and 360’s finishing inside snowbanks with only my snowboard and head exposed…LOL! And just solid face plants. PHEW! Thank god for fresh snow…. After learning a few lessons and having a blast doing it, it’s time to call it a day, have dinner, a few drinks, and get ready for day 2. SellaRonda! You won’t know what hit you. MY FACE IN YOUR SNOW HAAH!
Here we go….going full circle for us amateurs, some much better than others, but we are going to stick together and just have a great time. THAT WE DID! Navigating the 
SellaRonda, the falls, the laughs all the way to your highest point is something to tell our kids about. Took us about 2 hours to get to the top and was amazed how going up lifts and down slopes still took us to the highest point of your mountain peaks. Now, on the way down. As I start to work my way down your powdered slopes, I was in awe. Portions of your slopes so well-marked, they felt like a race track with padded bridges and speed arrows for the direction of turns. Well, you got us good. You decided to close one of your slopes and we were forced to go down your black slope. This is where our group went from 6 to 5. My first time ever. I was NOT going to let you scare me but you did. HAAAAH! My heart was racing at the beginning. As I started to go down and gain more confidence, fatigue started to take its place. YOU WERE STEEP!! Indeed I fell, slipped, and even collided with the earth 
painfully. OH! but you were so much fun. Of course, the rest of the way was pretty much some of your steepest runs. Fooled us on the way up. Thought we had it easy. You had some amazing and extremely fast slopes. At some point, I was going so fast. I was all smiles like a child at Disney World. Cutting left, cutting right, even flipping the leading edge. I FINALLY GOT THIS!!!! POOF!!!! OMG!!!!! I think I even said to myself “I’m breaking something.” Some people even stopped to see if I was ok. Since I just laid there hating you. Finally, I decided to get up and let the pain ease its way away. I also took it easy since it was already towards the finish when you decided to try to kill me. As we finished your amazing journey around the SellaRonda, what better way to finish you off with some good friends, good music and some good beer at the beer tent.
Dolomitis SuperSki Resort Corvara Italy, you will always have a place in my heart. You are a great representation of what Italy is. Flattery with your complimenting snow-covered mountains, romantic views, and some of the friendliest representations of people. ARRIVEDERCI!!!!!
